Patriot Day
“Innovation in my role has come to life most powerfully through the transformation of our school library into a Library Learning Commons. What was once a traditional space is evolving into a dynamic hub of creativity, collaboration, and curiosity. With the support of SDPC, we’ve redesigned the physical space to reflect 21st-century learning: flexible seating, creation zones, a podcast studio, and flexible shelving. But the transformation goes far beyond furniture. Our LLC has also become a launchpad for experiential and project-based learning, student voice, and literacy.” - Lindsey Douglas, Media Specialist at D.W. Daniel High School

As the School District of Pickens County celebrates 75 years of learning, growth, and community, it’s the people who have made the journey meaningful. From classrooms and concerts to bus routes and boardrooms, every chapter of SDPC’s story has been shaped by those who gave their time, their talent, and their heart. These short reflections - captured over the year and shared by the voices of SDPC - capture the spirit, pride, and personal moments that define who we are. Together, they form a living tribute to the legacy we share and the bright future still ahead.

This story highlights SDPC’s commitment to Visionary, Future-Focused Innovation. You can see Ms. Douglas and the LLC in action on a recent video highlighting our finalists for District Teacher of the Year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W43PlY5I-zY
