We are excited to announce that Dr. Lisa Cassidy has been named the next principal of Liberty Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026!
Dr. Cassidy currently serves as principal of Liberty Middle School, where she has led the school since 2017. During her tenure, Liberty Middle has seen strong progress in school culture, community engagement, and academic performance—including earning its first-ever Excellent rating on the 2025 South Carolina School Report Card.
With experience as an elementary teacher and assistant principal earlier in her career, Dr. Cassidy requested this transition as an opportunity to return to elementary leadership while continuing to serve the Liberty community.
“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to continue serving the Liberty community in this new role,” Dr. Cassidy shared. “Liberty is a remarkable community, and I am honored to keep supporting its schools and students.”
Dr. Cassidy will succeed Dr. Lowell Haynes, who will transition to a leadership role in the district’s alternative education program beginning in fall 2026. Dr. Haynes has served the Liberty Elementary community for 23 years, first as an assistant principal and, for the past 17 years, as principal. We are grateful for his service to Liberty Elementary and the Liberty community.
