Travis Smith has been selected as the new Executive Director of Operations for the School District of Pickens County.
In the role of Executive Director of Operations, Smith will oversee all construction and ongoing maintenance of facilities for the school district as well as prepare and monitor the operational budget by projecting needs and monitoring expenditures, and determining staffing needs.
"Travis Smith comes to us with the best of both worlds: He knows buildings, construction, and maintenance — as well as all the rigors of scheduling and personnel in a large organization,” said SDPC Superintendent, Dr. Danny Merck.
In 2007, Smith joined Prisma Health-Upstate where he then, through his hard work and dedication, was later appointed as the Executive Director of Facilities. In this position he was responsible for all aspects of Facility Maintenance, Clinical Engineering, Environment of Care, and Safety departments for Prisma Health-Upstate.
“This is a great opportunity for me to serve the community where I grew up and where my children now go to school,” Smith said. “I am honored to join the Pickens County family and look forward to getting started.”
Smith holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Anderson University. He holds certifications in Health Facility Management (CHFM) and a Life Safety Code Specialist Certificate. He has also served on the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) Workplace Violence prevention committee and the South Carolina Safety Task Force.
He and his wife Ashley reside in Liberty and are the proud parents of four children, ages 7, 5, 2, and 8 months.
Smith will start his new position on September 13 and will be taking the place of Marion Thomas, outgoing Director of Operations, who is currently transitioning to retirement.
Please join us in congratulating Travis Smith!
