STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOL (SRP)

The "I Love U Guys" Foundation

Crisis isn’t a choice. Response is.

The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s programs for crisis response and post-crisis reunification are used in more than 30,000 schools, districts, departments, agencies, organizations and communities around the world. They are created through the research-based best practices of school administrators, psychologists, public space safety experts, families, and first responders.

Standard Response Protocol in SDPC

The School District of Pickens County has expanded its safety program to include the I Love U Guys Foundation’s "Standard Response Protocol" (SRP) to standardize how we communicate and respond to emergencies impacting our campuses and people.

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) provides consistent, clear, shared language and actions among all students, staff, and first responders, that can be applied in any emergency.  The SRP is used by schools and institutions across the nation, giving students, staff, parents, communities, and first responders a common language and course of action.

Through this approach, members of the campus community will utilize the five SRP actions to define their decisions when responding to an emergency situation. These actions are:

  • HOLD

  • SECURE

  • LOCKDOWN

  • EVACUATE

  • SHELTER

SRP is Action Based

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on the response to any given situation not on individual scenarios. The SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - these five specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive." Execution of the action is performed by active participants.
