Della Watkins, 5th grader at Dacusville Elementary, was the state 5th grade winner in the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Essay Contest. Essays were judged for historical accuracy, adherence to the topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness. This week 4th and 5th grade students attended Dacusville’s very own skill boot camp! They worked on a variety of Reading and Math skills to earn Mastery Beads for their dog tags! This was an excellent review before State Testing begins for our students next week!

Last Thursday we had a time to celebrate some amazing students for demonstrating one of our 24 Positivity Project Character Strengths during our March Distinguished Dolphins breakfast. We are very proud of each of them for their contributions to our positive school culture. #dacusvillegrown
We had so much fun during our Kindergarten Morning S.T.E.A.M. event last Friday. Students listened to the story, Little Red Fort, and then worked through the Engineering Design Process to build forts that provided protection from the "sun." Students demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration as well as perseverance as they designed, built, and tested their models. #dacusvillegrown
Last week we got the opportunity to celebrate some of our 1st grade authors at our Authors' Tea event. We are so proud of our students and how far they have come in their writing thanks to their teachers' hard work.
