October Students of the Month

D.W. Daniel High School is proud to announce our October 2026 Students of the Month! These students have worked hard to demonstrate our PRIDE core values and have been chosen by a teacher or staff member because of their positive actions.

  • English Department - Jessica Campbell, nominated by Ms. Venezia and Ms. Fowler. "Jessi is an absolute delight to have in our class. She is brilliant, kind, hardworking, and a bright light in our room. Her positive attitude and presence radiate to her peers and teachers. Jessi’s drive and willingness to put in extra effort in everything she does are clearly evident through the work she produces in our class. She is always able to add a deep and nuanced perspective to our class discussions, even adding comments that we, as her teachers, did not think of. She is not only a joy, but a necessary voice that keeps our class going. We are so thankful to have her with us and even more grateful that we get to present this award to her. On behalf of all four of us, we cannot wait to see how you continue to thrive and grow."

  • Social Studies Department - Bernita White, nominated by Mrs. Bell. "Bernita is such a kind and respectful student, and it’s a joy to have her in class! Bernita treats everyone she meets with care, and that warmth is a wonderful part of our classroom community.

She works so hard and gives 100% on every assignment. I really appreciate how willing she is to keep working hard, even when something feels challenging. She’s also not afraid to ask for help when she needs it, which is a wonderful part of how she keeps learning and growing. I’m so glad to teach Bernita and see the care she brings to her work."

  • Math Department - Antonina Vyshnivska, nominated by Mrs. Norris. "I am proud to nominate Antonina Vyshnivska for Student of the Month.

Over the past few months, Toni has demonstrated extraordinary determination, resilience, and growth. Arriving in our school community from another country with limited English, she has achieved near-proficient fluency in just twelve short months—an astonishing milestone that reflects her exceptional work ethic.

Beyond her linguistic growth, Toni sets a standard of excellence for her peers every day. She approaches every assignment with diligence and approaches every challenge as an opportunity to learn. She is consistently respectful to teachers and classmates alike, bringing a warmth and sincerity to our classroom that elevates the environment around her.

What stands out most about Toni is her profound gratitude. She appreciates every learning opportunity offered to her and never takes her education for granted. Her dedication, character, and remarkable progress make her a truly deserving candidate for Student of the Month for October."

  • Science Department - Annabell Stargel, nominated by Coach Edwards. "Annabell is an excellent student. She works delinquently on every assignment, test and exam. She has been taking advantage of every opportunity for extra points on tests and exams. She uses her time wisely in class and studies outside of the classroom. She uses several strategies for studying like making and using flashcards, mock tests from the book, reviewing notes, reading the chapter a couple of times, and online review tools like Kahoots and Gimkit. Annabell has the highest average of all physical science students. She always exhibits Lion Pride. "

  • Foreign Language Department - Grace Lin, nominated by Mrs. Reyes. "I am proud to nominate Grace Lin for Student of the Month. Grace faced some challenges at the beginning of the year but through her resilience, determination and hard work, she has made outstanding progress. She continues to demonstrate a positive attitude and a strong commitment to her learning. Grace is also a very kind and respectful student who treats others with compassion. Her growth is a wonderful example of what perseverance and dedication can accomplish. I am incredibly proud of how far she has come, and she truly deserves to be recognized for her outstanding effort, character and achievements."

  • Career & Technology Department - Alayah Bolding, nominated by Coach Stone. "Alayah is a bright spot in my day each day. She always has a smile on her face. She completes her work and helps fellow classmates. She is interactive and makes class fun to teach."

  • Fine Arts Department - Peyton Dawson, nominated by Mr. Leonard. "Peyton is a senior violinist who has been such a joy to have in strings this year! She is so sweet and is always working hard and trying her best on her instrument. I feel so lucky to have her in our orchestra, and I wish I had more than one year with her! She is also involved in other activities outside of strings which keep her busy and shows how dedicated she is to things she cares about. She is going to do great things with her life!"

  • AFJROTC Department - Elora Spencer, nominated by Lt. Col. Haase. "Elora Spencer is being nominated for her resilience and her standout attitude in JROTC. Like many freshman cadets she has had an excellent first quarter assimilating into the culture of the program. She has a standout attitude however, exceptionally professional to her instructors and class leaders, is already supporting the Saber team as a young freshman, and also has a future in Archery if she chooses to pursue it. We choose Elora to represent us this month."

  • Multilingual Learners Department - Shafi Momin, nominated by Mrs. Pesa. "I am so happy to nominate Shafi for student of the month. Shafi is a wonderful student who always helps other students. He is incredibly kind and patient and works very hard on everything he is asked to do. He always participates in class and is a great asset to our class."

  • STEEP Department - Anquan Reese, nominated by Mrs. Mosley. "I am proud to nominate Quan for Student of the Month in recognition of his hard work, dedication, and growth both in the classroom and through work-based learning. He consistently puts forth his best effort and has shown tremendous growth in becoming a leader and trainer within our program. He is often willing to learn, take on new responsibilities, and help others succeed. His determination and positive attitude have made a meaningful impact on those around him. I truly believe that he can accomplish wonderful things in life because when he sets his mind to something, he works hard and does not give up. He is a deserving example of leadership, perseverance, and commitment."

  • At Large Student of the Month - Valley Morris, nominated by Plant Engineer Ms. Slattery, and FinishLion Monitor Mrs. Slattery. "I am nominating Valley for student of the month. He is always willing to step in and help the Custodial Staff with anything. He is kind and courteous to the custodial staff, always greeting us with a “hello, how’s your day?”

Even though I don’t have Valley in my room I still check on his grades. When I see him in the hall I ask him “how are you doing? How are your grades?” He knows I already know the answer to the question. Valley has always been very polite and respectful."
