Support Employee of the Year

Garrett Davidson, a Computer Technician in the Accountability & Information Technology Services department of the School District of Pickens County, has been named the 2020-2021 SDPC Support Employee of the Year. Davidson was announced as the winner at SDPC’s 2020 Back-to-School Celebration on Friday, August 21, at which 28 support employees of the year from each of the district’s schools and departments were honored.

Garrett DavidsonDavidson was instrumental in SDPC’s adjustment to remote learning after the school closure in March due to COVD-19, specifically by writing code to speed the distribution of internet hotspots to families.

“I have never once heard him complain about a person or an assigned task. Simply put, he is a delight to have on our team,” said Assistant Superintendent of Technology, Dr. Barbara Nesbitt.

Davidson is a product of Pickens County schools, graduating from Pickens High School before earning a B.S. in Applied Computer Science from Southern Wesleyan University. After completing an internship with the district’s AITS department, he joined their team in 2018.

Betsy Masters, and Instructional Technology Coach for the district, said, “Garrett is a poster child for what we as educators want for all of our students: success beyond the classroom. He is, without a doubt, a true success story of our education system from start to finish.”
